Punch Needle...Where to start?

To begin with, it is necessary to keep in mind that we will only be "successful" in this type of Embroidery if there is a perfect match between the NEEDLE + FABRIC + THREAD

These 3 products must be in agreement otherwise it will be a reason for the stitch not to come out! All you need is a more delicate fabric and a wider Needle than this one will tear... if the Thread is thicker than the Needle the first one will not slide through the tube, making the Russian Stitch impossible...

Think about the Tinder app🔥. .. it will be almost the same!

If the 3mm Lavor Magic Needle saw a DMC Knitty 6 Wool on Tinder🔥 it would certainly "swipe left" because it's not the ideal match. The same would happen with the DMC Magic Needle and the Raw Cotton Fabric (or raw cloth)... the "swipe left" was automatic!

In an unconventional way, I think you understand the idea 😅

Always bear in mind that the finer the needle, the more closed the fabric will have to be, and the thicker the needle, the more open the weave of the fabric will have to be. If used the other way around, you run the risk of the needle making holes that are too big in the fabric, ending up completely puncturing it. On the other hand, thin needles in "wider" fabrics will not fix the stitch, as it will not be secure enough to prevent let go.

The threads, in turn, will have to be suitable for the thickness of the needle tip. If the thread is too thick it will have difficulty passing through the tube and the Russian stitch will not be fixed. If the opposite happens, the line passes too quickly through the tube, and there is even space, it means that it is too thin, and you need a thicker line (or use a tip with less mm)

For each artist the combination of needle + fabric + thread is different, taking into account preferences and the type of embroidery work.

In a winning team, you don't move, and I've already found my perfect match! I always share my favorite team in the Workshops :)

And in the meantime you ask (no one asked but it's cool to say this) :

How do we prepare the Needle?

After choosing the size of the needle that will be used for embroidery, we will have to insert it into the plastic support... Unscrew + Place the needle on the flat side inside the support (at a height of our choosing) + Screw it back in as far as it will go

And how do we thread the Needle?

It's time to thread the needle with the help of the wire... We insert the curved part of the wire into the needle (through the pointy tip) until it comes out the other end + We open the curve of the wire a little to be able to pass the thread + We pull the wire from the other end in order to pass the line through the plastic support

Now we just need to cross the thread through the pointy tip... We use the wire again, but this time it will be to pass through the little hole at the tip of the needle + We open it and insert the thread + We pull the wire until it goes through the little hole

How is Russian Stitch done?

To do the flat stitch... Stick the needle into the fabric until it is completely immersed + Pull the end of the thread so that it is on the wrong side + We raise the needle again, and without it stopping touching the fabric, drag it towards forward 0.5cm and we sink again

Repeat the process until the area to be embroidered is filled.

For the Relief Stitch it is only necessary to increase the height of the needle tip. The embroidery process is the same as Flat Point...

And to finish off the points?

This process is done when we have just embroidered an area and/or want to change the color of the thread we currently have... With the needle immersed in the fabric, we will pull the thread through the needle hole + After pulling enough, we cut it + We cut the previous tip so that it is at the same level as the points

We can apply white glue to the back to make sure the stitches don't come loose...
